Bokkeum-bap (stir fried rice)

what you eat after you finish your pork KBBQ

Welcome to K-food for the week! It’s your weekly newsletter posted every Thursday (Korean time), so that you can make your Friday dinner a little more special.

Bokkeum-bap (볶음밥, read as bok-um-bap) is what you eat after you finish your pork KBBQ. So if you haven’t tried Samgyeopsal yet, you MUST eat that dish after you finish the Barbecue.

You can just ask the waiter to make Bokkeum-bap for you, but if you want to make it on your own, here’s how you do it.

1. chop Kimchi and lettuce into rice.

2. put Ssamjang in there and stir-fry it where you used to have your KBBQ.

3. put an egg per person in the mixture and make a scramble.

4. mix the scrambled eggs into the fried rice.

5. If you have seaweed flakes, put it just before the Bokkeum-bap is done.

6. if the Kimchi has turned slightly transparent, your fried rice are done.

The taste of the Bokkeum-bap is like Samgyeopsal, but slightly eggy. and it’s fattier than Samgyeopsal.

Eating it as it is is the normal way. But If you want to eat it with Kimchi or raw garlic, it’s also ok.

A warning before you eat KBBQ!!! Your clothes might smell if you have a meal in the KBBQ restaurant! I recommend eating out there as a dinner.

This was K-food for the week. I hope you have an amazing meal!
